It was totally worth it. The view was magnificent and this ice walking experience is unique. We even came across a ice cave that can be walked through thanks to our guide Stretch.

Our group was one of the lucky ones in that there was a small window that the weather held up long enough for our tour to go ahead. (Even in Summer the weather is unpredictable and can change at a moment’s notice). The helicopter pilot was amazing and pointed out things of interest as we flew up to the glacier. Rich our guide, waited with the first half of our group on the glacier and helped us put on our crampons. We then started our walk on the glacier – through recently formed ice caves. The blue ice was amazing. The tour was very informative and we were allowed lots of time to take photos of the experience. What I loved most was hearing the ice boulders crack and groan in the silence, reminding you that the glacier is constantly changing. I also loved seeing the tail end of a small avalanche on one of the nearest mountain slopes. I can’t thank Rich enough for what was one of the most spectacular and unique experiences we’ve ever enjoyed. It was very special.
